Our Mission
A leadership and character development program for Cypress Springs students.
Air Force Junior ROTC is a leadership and character development program; it is not a military recruiting program. TX-20016 works to develop citizens of integrity, responsibility and selfless service.
The curriculum combines Aerospace Science with leadership education to help cadets build skills they can use in college, careers, public service and their communities.

Leadership Development Activities
Leadership Development Requirement activities are school-approved teams or committees that help cadets apply classroom learning through service, competition, leadership and teamwork.
Activity availability may change. Cadets should contact an instructor for current teams, schedules, eligibility requirements and participation details.
Tier I: STEM-Based Activities
Science, technology, engineering, mathematics and academic activities may include:
Rocketry Team
Design, build, document and safely launch model rockets.
JLAB
Develop leadership and academic knowledge through JROTC competition.
Drones
Explore unmanned aircraft, flight principles and programming.
Robotics
Apply engineering, construction and programming through robotics challenges.
CyberPatriot
Build cybersecurity and network-management skills through team challenges.
StellarXplorers
Explore space-system design, development and operation.
Tier II: Activity-Based Teams
Competitive, performance, fitness and honor-society activities may include:
Color Guard
Practice precision drill, flag courtesies and respectful presentation of the colors.
Saber Team
Learn disciplined saber routines for ceremonies and performances.
PT Raiders
Build physical fitness, teamwork and mental resilience through outdoor challenges.
Kitty Hawk Honor Society
Recognize academic achievement, service and leadership development.
Academic Team
Prepare for academic testing, presentations and JROTC competitions.
Orienteering
Use maps, navigation and route selection in timed outdoor courses.
Tier III: Unit & Community Activities
Local activities support the Cadet Corps, Cypress Springs and the surrounding community.
Spirit Team
Support campus spirit through organized participation at school events.
Flag Security Detail
Carry out respectful flag-raising and flag-lowering responsibilities.
Green Team
Participate in campus and community cleanup and service projects.
Cadet Resources
Evergreen reference material for cadet instruction and practice.
30-Step Drill Sequence
Review the instructional sequence used to practice individual drill movements.
Cadet Opportunities
Cadets may explore college, scholarship and service opportunities. Requirements and deadlines are maintained by the sponsoring organizations.
ROTC Scholarships
College ROTC scholarships may provide financial assistance in exchange for a military service commitment after graduation. Students should review each branch’s official requirements carefully.
