April 17, 2015—Travis Fanning, the principal at Cypress Springs High School, has been named the assistant superintendent of secondary school administration. Fanning will share the role currently occupied by Dr. Scott Sheppard, assistant superintendent of secondary school administration.
Fanning has served in public education for 15 years. Prior to accepting his current role at Cypress Springs, he worked as a principal at Normandy Crossing Elementary School and the North Shore ninth-grade campus in Galena Park ISD from 2010-2012. Prior to that, he was an assistant principal of curriculum and instruction (2007-2010), a GEAR UP advisor (2004-2007) and a mathematics teacher (2000-2004).
Fanning was named CFISD Secondary Principal of the Year in 2013-2014.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from Alabama A&M University in 2000, and his Master of Science in Educational Management from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Fanning will begin his new administrative role on July 1, 2015.
“The decision to transition into this position was a difficult one because of the love and respect that I have for the Cypress Springs community and students,” Fanning said. “I am excited about the opportunity to support principals, teachers and school personnel in their journey in educating every secondary student in the Cy-Fair community. I am humbled to have been selected and looking forward to continuing to provide servant leadership.”
