Student Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

June 16, 2015—Several CFISD student athletes signed national letters of intent to their respective colleges or universities in the final month of the 2014-2015 school year.

The following graduates will compete athletically on the next level in the following NCAA, NAIA or NJCAA athletics:

Cypress Ranch High School

Four athletes signed during a May 18 ceremony in the large-group instruction room:

  • Masen Hibbeler, baseball – Odessa College;
  • Brent Hebert, baseball – Louisiana State University – Eunice;
  • Weston Brown, baseball – Hill College; and
  • Elijah MacNamee, baseball – Blinn College.

Cypress Springs High School

Seven students signed during a May 8 ceremony in the Cypress Springs performance gym:

  • Garret Harrison, baseball – Hill College;
  • Ashly Johnson, women’s wrestling – Missouri Valley College;
  • José Treviño, men’s soccer – University of the Southwest;
  • Roberto Guzmán, men’s soccer – University of the Southwest;
  • Alicia Huerta, athletic training, Blinn College;
  • Christopher Smith, men’s track and field – Graceland University; and
  • Trameceia Sample, women’s track and field – Delaware State University.

Soccer player Christian Luevano also signed with the University of the Southwest.

On June 9, an additional Cypress Springs athlete signed to a university in front of 77 campers at the school:

  • Philip Meikle, men’s basketball, Concordia University.

Jersey Village High School

Two Jersey Village athletes signed letters of intent in May:

  • Amberlyn Waller, women’s track and field – South Plains College; and
  • Nick Paul, football – Prairie View A&M University.

Cypress Woods High School

Nineteen Wildcat athletes signed letters of intent on May 27, following in the footsteps of countless other athletes who have signed letters of intent to play all over the country. Wildcats signed to play at big universities such as Nebraska, and smaller universities such as McNeese State.

For a lot of these athletes, continuing their athletic careers is quite an accomplishment.

“Playing soccer after high school has been something I’ve always wanted to do since freshman year,” senior Alec Wier, LeTourneau soccer signee, said. “It feels so good to continue my soccer career.”

  • Aidan Ferrer, men’s soccer – Pitzer College;
  • Jacob Swonke, men’s soccer – Southwestern University;
  • Alec Wier, men’s soccer – LeTourneau University;  
  • Andrew Silverman, men’s soccer – Augustana College;
  • Phillip Silverman, men’s diving – Southwestern University;
  • Kara Cottrell, women’s diving – University of Nebraska;
  • Shea Foster, men’s track and field/cross country – Lamar University;
  • Connor Treviño, men’s track and field/cross country – McNeese State University;
  • Chad O’Donnell, baseball – Chattanooga State Community College;
  • Grant Golson, baseball – Howard College;
  • Cale Thornton, baseball – Chattanooga State Community College;
  • Hagan Hartman, baseball – Angelina College;
  • Desmen Depaulis, softball – Hamilton College;
  • Katie Bricarell, softball – Southwestern University;
  • Taylor Hutcheson, women's soccer – Schreiner University; 
  • Kyli Harvey, women's soccer – Schreiner University;
  • Cornelius Coleman, football – Southwest Baptist University; and
  • Bryce Bryan, men’s wrestling – Shippensburg University.
