Athletes, Coaches Win Awards at FCA Banquet

May 22, 2015—The Northwest Houston branch of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) honored four CFISD athletes, two sponsors and a coach at its first annual awards banquet on May 14 at the Foundry United Methodist Fry Road campus.

FCA Northwest Houston Area Director Kurt Lawson said the banquet was reinstated after a multi-year hiatus to recognize participants and increase attention for the program.

“We wanted to say thanks to all the sponsors and the kids involved, and get the community more involved,” Lawson said. “We want to broaden awareness of the FCA to our parents and community so they can see what we do.”

The following athletes, coaches and educators were honored with awards:

  • Hamilton Middle School seventh-grade student Truitt Milton was named Middle School Male Athlete of the Year;
  • Arnold Middle School eighth-grade student Alyson McDonald was named Middle School Female Athlete of the Year;
  • Langham Creek High School senior Jake Ross was named High School Male Athlete of the Year;
  • Jersey Village High School senior Kimberly Cook was named High School Female Athlete of the Year;
  • Dean Middle School coach Chinara Hunter was named Middle School Sponsor of the Year;
  • Cypress Springs High School coach Jennifer Adams was named High School Sponsor of the Year;
  • Bleyl Middle School educators Samdria Stewart and Christine Hards were named Middle School Huddle of the Year;
  • Cy-Fair High School educators Holli Davila and Tim Stocktonwere named High School Huddle of the Year; and
  • Langham Creek High School coach Charles Ament won the Coach of Influence Award.

 

“We were proud to recognize these outstanding student athletes and coaches, who did a great job of representing FCA everywhere they went,” Lawson said.
